These 5 Canadian Airlines let you fly with your dog.

Thinking of traveling with your furry friend? We’ve gathered information on pet policies from five popular Canadian airlines to help you make an informed decision. Here’s what you need to know:


1️⃣ Air Canada:

🐶 In-Cabin Pets: Dogs and carriers under 22 lbs (10 kg) allowed, $50-$100 fee, with an airline approved carrier.

🐶 Checked Baggage Pets: Up to 100 lbs (45 kg), fees vary.

✈️ Carrier Guidelines: In-cabin carriers: ≤9” x 15.5” x 21.5”, checked baggage carriers: spacious enough.


2️⃣ WestJet:

🐶 In-Cabin Pets: Dogs and carriers, cats, rabbits, some birds allowed, $50-$118 CAD/USD fee, with an airline approved carrier.

🐶 Checked Baggage Pets: Up to 100 lbs (45 kg), fees vary.

✈️ Carrier Guidelines: In-cabin carriers: ≤16” x 8.5” x 10”, checked baggage carriers: ≤40” x 27” x 30”.


3️⃣ Flair Air:

🐶 In-Cabin Pets: Small dogs and cats under 22 lbs (10 kg) including carrier, $85 fee, with an airline approved carrier.

🐶 Checked Baggage Pets: Not allowed.

✈️ Carrier Guidelines: In-cabin carriers: ≤16” x 9” x 10”, soft, leak-proof, and well-ventilated.


4️⃣ Air Transat:

🐶 In-Cabin Pets: Small pets under 22 lbs (10 kg) carrier included, fees vary, with an airline approved carrier.

🐶 Checked Baggage Pets: Fees based on destination.

✈️ Carrier Guidelines: In-cabin carriers: ≤9.5” x 10” x 17”, checked baggage carriers: spacious enough.


5️⃣ Porter Airlines:

🐶 In-Cabin Pets: Cats and dogs under 20 lbs (9 kg) including carrier, $50-$56.50 fee, with an airline approved carrier.

✈️ Carrier Guidelines: In-cabin carriers: ≤13” x 17” x 6”, leak-proof and well-ventilated.


Remember, these policies can change, so it’s always best to double check with the airlines before traveling. It’s also important to note, while some European airlines do allow your dog to come out of his or her bag, Canadian Airlines require dogs to be kept in their bag, under the seat in front of you. You are allowed to provide your pet with water or food while inside the carrier. And finally, all weight restrictions above include the weight of the carrier.
