Did you know that Spotify makes customizable playlists for your pets?
The music streaming site has created 'Pet Playlists' to help pet owners craft the "pawfect algorithmically generated playlist" designed to help soothe lonely animals, and it's going down a treat with dogs.
By answering a few quick questions about your pup's temperament, a playlist is curated with songs to suit their unique personality - and you can even add your favourite photo as the playlist cover. Although the feature originally launched back in January 2020, many dog-owners still don't know that Pet Playlists exist on the platform, and have been missing out on an adorable personalized playlist made especially for their furry bestie.
The playlists are based on subscribers' own musical tastes and pet species, while the "My Dog's Favourite Podcast" has been created with animal experts to "help alleviate stress," Spotify said.
A survey completed by Spotify across 5 countries revealed that 71% of pet owners play music for their pets.
It also found that 8 in 10 people believe their pets like music, and around 46% of people feel that music is a stress reliever for their furry friends.
How to create your pup's playlist
If you already have a Spotify account, simply log in at https://pets.byspotify.com/ and you can have a personalized pet playlist ready for them in minutes.
We got PawSwap team member Carly to walk us through the simple process while she made a playlist for her 3-year-old pup Olive.
Step 1: Pick your pet.
You can choose from a dog, cat, iguana, hamster, or bird.
Step 2: Tell Spotify more about your pet.
To help Spotify pick the playlist vibe, you'll answer questions on a slider about your pup's personality traits.
Step 3: Add a name and photo.
The playlist cover will feature your pet’s name and photo. and you’ll also receive a personalized share card to show off to your friends - so cute!
Step 4: Listen and share.
It's as easy as that! You can start listening with your pup, and share (and compare) your card on social using #SpotifyPets.
