Costco has asked pet owners who bought an advent calendar for dogs to stop feeding the treats inside to their pets "immediately" over quality concerns.

A product advisory was released by the wholesaler on December 11, citing "quality concerns" and an "abundance of caution" as the reason why purchasers should stop using the Irish Rover 2021 Advent Calendar for Dogs - which is made by Irish Dog Foods.

The wholesaler added that anyone who bought the advent calendar between October 1 and December 8 can return the product to store for a full refund on their next visit.

The post read: "If you purchased the Irish Rover 2021 Advent Calendar for Dogs, item 2462182, at a Costco warehouse or on Costco.ca between October 1, 2021 and December 8, 2021, out of an abundance of caution, please stop feeding the treats to your pet immediately as Irish Dog Foods reviews the quality concerns. These Calendars do not meet our quality standards."

For more information, consumers are asked to contact Irish Dog Foods at info@irishdogfoods.com or by telephone at 888-671-8851 (Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm).
